What are micro credentials?
Micro credentials are a way for educators to gain increased competency from a range of existing and evolving skills. They are designed for educators to engage in learning at their own pace. CELA Micro Credentials support a variety of learning styles and incorporate pre-recorded sessions, activities and resources. These complement and enable effective practice when working in an education and care service.

What are the benefits of attaining a CELA Micro Credential for the educator?
CELA Micro Credentials allows educators to:
- Extend on existing skills and knowledge attained through other training methods.
- Incrementally build on acquired knowledge and skills built in the workplace.
- Focus on a particular area of practice and increase understanding in the following four areas:
1. Theoretical knowledge
2. Practical ideas and strategies to implement within their service
3. Exposure to new research, theories, and strategies
4. How to support others in practice skills
- Exposes others in the team to new and innovative methods relating to practice.
- Celebrate, share and promote their credentials via digital platforms and badges. A more flexible way to achieve professional learning goals. -

Are CELA Mico Credentials accredited/ will they give me credits towards a qualification?
CELA recognises that educators have worked hard for their qualifications. Micro credentials build on existing skills and knowledge but cannot be used as credit towards a qualification.

What will I receive after completing a CELA Micro Credential?
An educator who completes a CELA Micro Credential will earn a digital badge and certificate they can share on their social media platforms and in their resume/ CV. Badges and certificates provide a digital learning verification that identifies the specific skills and knowledge acquired by completing the micro credential.

Do I need to pass an exam to complete a CELA Micro Credential?
To complete a micro credential an educator will be required to finish all parts of the credential, including quizzes and tasks.

How long does it take to complete a CELA Micro Credential?
Micro credentials are designed to be undertaken at a pace that suits the individual learner. CELA recommends that they are completed within a 1–2-month period in order to optimise the knowledge built in each workshop. Participants are given up to one year to complete an individual micro credential.

Does my CELA Micro Credential badge expire?
Yes, they do. Expiry periods may differ, depending on the topic. Check the description of the micro credential you are undertaking to confirm the expiry date. In general, CELA Micro Credential badges have been set to expire after a maximum period of five years, after which we recommend that your learning on a specific topic be refreshed.

Using the e-learning platform

How do I access my courses in the e-learning platform?
Once you have purchased a micro credential, you will be sent an email with a unique link to access the platform by setting a password. Once you have set your password and logged in, you will be directed to your dashboard. The dashboard has a link to the credential you have purchased.

How do I reset my password?
If you are unable to log in to the platform, you can reset your password by clicking on ‘Forgot password?’ on the login page. This will prompt you to enter the email address you signed up with and will send you instructions to reset it.
Within the portal, you can update your password by clicking on your profile on the top right corner of the webpage and selecting ‘My Account’. After this, click on ‘Password’ on the left toolbar and enter the necessary details to change your password.
Digital badges and Certificates

What are digital badges?
For recipients, badges are a fantastic way to exhibit their achievements and to establish credibility.
Digital badges have two components:
1. A digital ‘badge’ that includes the name of the micro credential you have undertaken.
2. An online information page that describes what the badge recipient has learnt and which organisation issued the badge.
The digital badge you receive when you complete a CELA Micro Credential links to a page of information describing what the badge recipient has learned, enabling the credentials information to be easily transported and displayed in a variety of locations on the internet such as CVs, portfolios, websites and social media platforms.
Digital badges issued by CELA Micro Credentials follow the online standard for recognising and verifying learning that complies with the Open Badges Specification. Open Badges put learners in control of how and where they share verifiable evidence of their skills and achievements with people, organizations, and social platforms. -
What are digital certificates?
Digital certificates are A4 sized, printable representations of the digital badge that you can add to your printed resume, portfolio or CV.

How do I receive a badge and certificate?
Once you have successfully completed a CELA Micro Credential you will be emailed a link to access your virtual badge and certificate. This will be sent to the same email address you use to access the CELA Micro Credentials platform.

Where can I showcase my badge?
You can display your badge in a wide variety of places online. You can add your badge to your email signature, LinkedIn profile, any of your preferred social networks, or download a copy and add it to your resume.

How long will my badge and certificate last?
Your badge and certificate will expire after a predetermined period of time that will be included in the course description. If this is not included in the description, it will expire after 5 years.

Can I request another copy of my badge or certificate if I lose the link?
We recommend you save the link emailed to you so you can easily access your badge and certificate at any time. However, if you lose this link, you can contact us to resend it by email at [email protected] or call 1800 157 818.

I am an employer—can I request a copy of my employee’s badge or certificate?
For confidentiality reasons, we recommend first asking your employee directly for a copy of their badge or certificate. If you are unable to do this, please contact us for support by email at [email protected] or call 1800 157 818.
